Life Without a Pressure Cooker/ Instant Pot
I could not imagine my life without a pressure cooker, or what most people call Instant Pot. (Instant Pot is a brand name) I have very good intentions when it comes to cooking my family meals. Make up a menu, and a grocery list, buy the groceries then freeze all of the meat. I then plan on making my meals on the allotted days. No problem right? WRRRRong! I tend to like a lot of us forget to thaw out the meat.

Meat Frozen
Setting out the meat on the counter to be thawed out is not a good option. This is actually very dangerous. All kinds of bacteria and spoilage can happen. I know it is tempting but not a good idea. This is where the pressure cooker / Instant Pot comes in.
The pressure cooker/ Instant Pot can cook your meat fast even when it is frozen. There have been many nights when I come home and realize that I forgot to thaw out my meat in the refrigerator. I had to scramble and figure out another meal to make that didn’t require any meat that was frozen. This usually led to me calling my husband up and asking him to pick up fast food on the way home. This became expensive and very unhealthy.

Then came the pressure cooker/instant pot.
I had heard about pressure cookers before but really didn’t pay attention to what they were. I had thought that they went on top of your stove and you boiled water. So I was never interested. Then all sorts of cookbooks were popping up. Whenever I went down Target’s book aisles that’s what I would see. So I then picked up a cookbook and saw what it was.
It was an electric cooker something like a slow cooker/Crock-Pot. But the word slow has nothing to do with a pressure cooker/Instant Pot. It is a fast cooker. It cooks your food at high pressure by using water. With a pressure cooker thawing out meat is not necessary. It will take a little longer to cook but not much. I’m talking about maybe 10 minutes longer. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of these.
Made Meal Time Simple
My life has changed with this appliance. I’m still not remembering to thaw out meat but I am still able to cook what I had planned on cooking. No more panicking wondering what I can fix for dinner. Last night I needed cooked chicken breast for my Chicken Enchiladas. Of course, the chicken wasn’t thawed but I had my pressure cooker. Dinner was on the table in 40 minutes.

Great Gift
Loving my pressure cooker/ Instant Pot I had to share it with my family. I gave each sibling and niece and nephews’ families one for Christmas. They aren’t expensive to buy. I know the first meal I cooked with mine paid for itself. I didn’t go out and get fast food for the family.
