Organizing has always been my nemesis. Having organization in your home means a more enjoyable life. I know this because for these last 10 months I have been living in an unorganized house.
Living in a cluttered home can make you stressed out.
Example:
If you were to do your laundry and throw it on the chair in the corner of your bedroom every time you walked into your bedroom, that pile would keep telling you that there’s work to do. You might not realize it but subconsciously it is on your mind. It goes for whatever clutter there is in your house.

It just plain out messes with your mind! Whether you realize it or not.
I say enough to clutter!
Let’s get to decluttering and organization.
Disorganization is making my everyday living so stressful.
As I have mentioned in other posts we moved here to Arizona last October. I spent the month of May 2019 going through items and decluttering my home to get ready to home stage it.
After I finished home staging it I absolutely loved my house.
(You see before the decluttering I just wasn’t happy with the house even though I had decorated in the farmhouse style I love. )
After the decluttering and organizing, I didn’t want to move. But we had to relocate back home to Arizona.
I promised myself that my new home would always be organized.
To my dismay, I didn’t get rid of all I needed to.

There are so many boxes that I open and think to myself “What was I thinking bringing this with us?”
In my defense, though sometimes walking away from some items is what needs to be done.
A change of heart can happen. A year ago those items might have meant something more to me then.
So it is good to go through items ever so often. You might have a change of heart like I did.
Something Keeps Coming Up
So with all great intentions of putting my knowledge of organization into my new home things have happened that need to be on top of the list.
First of all, if you have read about my chickens you know about us needing to build chicken coops. Which if I may say so myself they turned out great. Take a look at them here.
We also have the cats and goat we had to take care of.
Here’s the link to the great Catio we made our patio into.
Then by the time all of that was done Christmas Season was upon us.
Then 2020. We all know how that is going.

Taking the Time for Organization
With this quarantine time, I have decided to take the opportunity to get organized. Since it is so hot to go outside and I am staying home this is a great time to start.
I thought when we moved in I knew what I wanted each space to be. I had the movers place the boxes in each room that I wanted them in. Which did help at the time. I knew that organization was key.
I was able to unpack most of the boxes and put items up but just not organized or in the right places. Now that I am rethinking my plans for the house I need to find better homes for my items.
My goal is to have most of the immediate living spaces organized before the holiday season starts up. I just love to decorate so it would be great to have some organization so I can enjoy the decorations instead of them adding to the clutter.

Steps to getting organized!
1.Figure out what purpose each room will be used for.
Walk through your house and imagine what each room will be used for. I know that may sound like a waste of time but this is a necessity to do.
Each room needs to be defined for what you are going to be using it for. Some rooms are more important than others.
If you have been living in your house for years you would be surprised at what you have stored in some of the cabinets or even on the floor.
I had my tool bag in my bedroom. This definitely wasn’t where it belonged. The bedroom is for relaxing and sleeping not working. I talk more about how important this is in my decluttering post.
For organizational purposes, you need to do this to know where items go.
2. Gather items to help with organization.
This will help the organization be organized.
The items that I find helpful are boxes, this checklist for decluttering, markers to mark each box, and trash bags. Also if you already have containers or furniture to put the stuff you are keeping in have them handy too.
3. Decide what room to start in.
Deciding on one room to start with will help you not be too overwhelmed. If I told you to just start organizing your house you would probably say “Uh okay” then look around a bit and decide to have a soda maybe a snack and think about it a bit.
Then if you are like me decide to do it tomorrow.
With that said try to decide which room you want to start in now. Without leaving this blog post. You already know which room you need to start in already right? It’s the one that you just hate going into or the most stressful one.
Maybe even if it’s not that bad start with the master bedroom. This is the place you start your day and also end it.
Grab the checklist that you downloaded and put a big number one next to the room. Now you are committed to doing that room first.

4. Now choose an area in that room.
The checklist has some ideas of where to start or maybe you have other areas that need to be done. Choosing an area in this room once again helps with the stress of this organization mission you have started.
Baby steps help you feel an accomplishment. Discouragement would set in after the first hour if you thought you had to do the whole room at once. Getting the top of the dresser decluttered will make you feel good. Once it is done put a big checkmark next to it on the checklist.
5. Once done with that area choose another.
Choosing another area can be done immediately or on another day if you need a break or are out of time for the day. Just remember to keep on decluttering.
Baby steps make progress.
6. Get a room done.
Focus on one room and it gets done fairly quickly. I’m not saying get it done in one day. That’s great if you can do that but it’s not likely. Get the one room done. See how it makes you feel. I bet you will feel so happy, less stressed, and feel like you accomplished something. You did and should feel all of that.

7. Start another room.
I know you want to spend more time in that room you just finished.
Just think when you finish one room then another room and another soon your whole house will be done and you will enjoy” the life you just weaved” for yourself by getting organized.
Great job getting started!
Organization is the key to a simple+happy life
