As you are transitioning to an empty nest home let it start reflecting who you are today. This can be done gradually or right away. Depending on emotions and also budget.
For years many of us decorated and organized the home around our children’s likes and needs.

Now it’s time to ask:
What color makes me happy?
What activities do I enjoy?
How do I want my home to feel?
What spaces would support the life I’m creating now?
The two questions above that really got me thinking was: What activities do I enjoy, and the one about spaces supporting my life now.
Gardening, sewing and baking are my top 3 activities.
One of my rooms can be a sewing room, reorganize my kitchen for baking, focus on the outside for gardening.
This is a good easy start to changing my home to a comfortable empty nest home for me.
This isn’t about moving on from your family. It’s about making room for yourself, too.
Release the Guilt
Many parent feel guilty about changing up the rooms, donating items or clearing out belongings.
Clearing space isn’t a rejection of the past.
It’s an acknowledgement that life continues to grow and change.
Your children carry their memories with them. The love you built in your home isn’t contained in a box of school papers, or a box of old belongings.
The memories remain, whether the items stay or not.
If you feel guilty about getting rid of items ask your children if they want any of them. If they do give them a time line of going through the room or boxes. When the find something they want to keep make sure they take it with them.
What is left can then be donated or thrown out guilt free.

Your Next Chapter Deserves Space
An empty nest isn’t the end of a story.
It’s the beginning of a new one.
As you declutter, organize and reimagine your home, give yourself permission to honor the past while embracing the future
Keep what truly matters.
Release what no longer serves you.
Create spaces that support the woman you truly are.
Because your home should tell the story of your life – not only where you’ve been but where you’re going next.
Final Thought
A home filled with memories is a beautiful thing. A home that also makes room for new dreams, new experiences, and new possibilities is even more beautiful.
